Tyne Cot Cemetery
Tyne Cot cemetery is the world's largest Commonwealth war cemetery and contains 11,871 graves. Along the back of the cemetery are panels carrying the names of 34,888 soldiers who have no known graves and whose names would not fit on the Menin Gate.
The German pill boxes in the area were considered to look similar to Tynside cottages and it from this that the cemetery derives its name. It is situated about 6 miles north-east of Ypres near the village of Passchendaele.
